FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, December 20, 2012

SCRANTON, PA – The House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee has announced the appointment of Congressman-elect Matt Cartwright to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

“I am honored to have been chosen by my colleagues to serve on this committee,” said Congressman-elect Cartwright. “I look forward to having the opportunity to hold the Federal Government accountable to taxpayers, to fight on behalf of our Postal Service and to protect workers’ rights. When I considered where I could utilize my background to tackle government spending issues and difficult regulation that hinders job creation the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform was at the top of my list.”

The Committee’s government-wide oversight jurisdiction and expanded legislative authority make it one of the most influential and powerful committees in the House. Its subcommittees focus on areas such as Labor Policy, Financial Management, Health Care, National Security, Government Spending as well as Technology and Information Policy.

Cartwright will be sworn in as a member of the 113th Congress on January 3, 2013.
